Questions about Lessons In general

Do you travel to students homes?

At present, because of my busy schedule I’m only available to teach at my own home studio. There are many advantages for you: when students are more advanced, from time to time we record your performance so you can take it home and listen to it; there’s no setup or variables to consider; you’ll be exposed to another instrument which will be enriching in your musical life!

Do you offer online lessons?

No. While I totally understand the pandemic opened the door for this type of interaction, I don’t offer them because I believe they rob my students of the full experience of learning while I can correct your technique right there and then. Because of this for the time being, I am keeping my lessons in person.

Do you have a waiting area for those not taking the lesson?

Yes, I do have a 3 person sofa right next to us where you can relax while we have the lesson.

How much do you charge for the lessons?

I charge $40 for half hour and $55 for 45mins to an hour. I generally recommend 1 hour lessons because it allows us to work on different concepts in the same lesson.

Do you offer discounts?

Yes, I do offer a package of 8 lessons at $35 each ($280) for half hour lessons. I also offer a package of 8 lessons at $45 each ($360). You can cancel lessons as you need to but you do have a certain period of time to use all your lessons (3months).

What is your address?

Please contact me for address and directions. Because you’ll be coming to my home studio, you must have made an appointment with me so we can work together.

QUESTIONS ABOUT Drums Lessons

What do I need to bring to the lesson?

You’ll need to bring a notebook with music notation paper and your drumsticks. I also recommend a couple of very affordable books we use for reading, developing independence, etc…If you have a specific piece of gear you’d like me to look at by all means please bring it so we can look at it together.

Do you help students with their setup at home?

Yes. I offer a one hour setup and lesson for $55 if you’re within 5 miles from me and $60 for more. If you purchased a drum set and would like me to set it up then I can offer this for $85 as I’ll be there for 2-3 hours helping you.

Do you allow students to record their drums performance?

Yes. My drums are setup so you can informally record either with your phone or device or we can setup a couple of mics in my studio and I can later send you a recording of the performance. This is not meant to serve as a professional drum recording as that takes a long time to prepare and while it’s available I charge for that at an hourly studio rate.

Questions About Guitar Lessons

What do I need to bring to the lesson?

You’ll want to bring your guitar with you and also a notebook with notation paper so we can write and work on concepts for you to take home.

QUESTIONS ABOUT MUSIC PRODUCTION AND ENGINEERING

Do I get to take home what we work on?

Yes. Your work here can be continued at home so you can keep improving it. You must consider though, if there is any co-writing involved you are not paying me as a work for hire. You are paying to learn, if we create something in that session it will be a co-writting session. If you’re the one determining the direction of the track, then the track belongs to you, recording included.
